The FREE UNIVERSITY OF BOZEN-BOLZANO (UNIBZ) offers 12 degree courses, 15 master’s degrees, 2 university masters, 1 continuing education program (Studium Generale) and 6 doctoral courses. Peculiar is the training offer in three languages. There are over 4,000 students, 14% from abroad. The staff is about 130 professors and researchers of which over 30% have an international origin and 252 administrative employees. Unibz systematically ranks in the top positions of national (Censis, Sole24ore) and international (Times Higher Education, U multirank) rankings among small universities.
Unibz has developed specific skills related to MCT to SMART LIVING. Therefore, this project will benefit from synergies with other projects such as the HORIZON 2020 project, still in progress, “Industry 4.0 for SMEs – Smart Manufacturing and Logistics for SMEs in an X-to-order and Mass Customization Environment”, of which Unibz is project leader.
Unibz has the administrative, financial and operational requirements, as well as the specialist know-how to be able to fully carry out all the planned activities.
Unibz has extensive experience in project management, having been coordinator or partner of projects financed by MIUR (PRIN and FIRB) and by ERDF-FESR, as well as of multiple transnational and international cooperation projects, including Interreg Italy-Austria, Interreg Italy-Switzerland, Interreg Alpine Space, FP7, HORIZON 2020, LIFE and ERC / MSCA.
As far as operational capacity is concerned, Unibz, alongside research and teaching, operates the transfer of technology and knowledge. Direct collaboration between science, economy and society creates new technologies, products and services; the practical relevance of research and teaching is reinforced by joint projects. The activity for UNIBZ includes continuous dialogue with the local area and society, through a series of initiatives and training offers for the transfer of culture and innovation.
